The origins of the Department of Ecology and water resources management are connected with the Department of "Rural and pasture water supply", founded in 1953. The first head of the Department "Rural and pasture water supply" was the state prize winner associate Professor A. N. Lyapin. In subsequent years, the Department was headed by associate Professor P. p. Amanatsky in 1956-1958 and 1960-1970, associate Professor G. G. Podgornov in 1976-1980, associate Professor V. A. Demin, and from 1983 to 1988 it was headed by associate Professor I. M. Makhmudova. In different years the Department worked docents Isaev A. A., Khodjaev S. S., senior lecturer R. M. mukhitdinova, D. Yu. Dzhumaev, assistants S. K. Malysheva and S. B. Mechetner. The Department of Сomplex use and protection of water resources was separated from the Department of Hydrogeology in September 1979 and its first head was doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences, Professor S. Sh. Mirzaev. During these years, associate professors S. A. Murakayeva, R. N. Mukhitdinova, senior teachers S. A. Anarbayev and T. A. Azimov worked at the Department. In 1989, at the faculty of hydromelioration on the basis of combining the departments "Complex use and protection of water resources" and "Rural water supply" under the leadership of the Honored scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, prof. Saidrahmon of Shaabdievich Mirzaev was created Department of “Complex water resources use and rural water supply.” In the context of consistent reforms in all sectors of the economy, including higher education, based on the goals of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "on Education" and the "National training program", due to the need to train ecologists for agriculture, the Department was renamed "Ecology and water resources"on September 1, 2000. Honored scientist of Uzbekistan, doctor of geological-mineralogical Sciences, Professor Mirzayev Saidrahmon Shaabdievich  In different years, Professor K. G. Ganiev, associate professors A. S. Anarboev, T. A. Azimov, A. Kh. Karimov, O. Yu. Jalilova, assistants A. A. Baraev, Z. Juraev, Zh. Murotov, I. Abdullaev and others worked at the Department. Based on the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 415 dated September 3, 2004,  "Tashkent Institute of irrigation and melioration " facing new tasks and needs for international integration, renamed the Department on "Ecology and water resources management". The department was led for many years by Professor Mirzaev Saidrahmon Shaabdievich and then by his PhD students Professor, Dr. Salohiddinov Abdulkhakim Temirgalievich and since 2019 by Ph. D., associate Professor Karimov Akmal Khaitovich. The Department is one of the leading departments of the faculty of Hydromelioration. The Department has 4 professors, including Prof. Egamberdiev N. B. Honored inventor and innovator of Uzbekistan, Prof., D.B.Sc. Karimov B. K., Prof., D. B.Sc. Ismoilkhodjaev B.Sh., Prof. Dr. Radkevich M. V. The Department also has a foreign specialist/ teacher, PhD Sania Ilyas (Pakistan), as well as 8 associate professors, 2 senior teachers, 5 assistants and 3 trainee teachers. In the preparation of highly qualified specialties contribute Prof., D.G.-M.S. Abdullaev B. D., PhD Ziganshina D. R., PhD Boboev X., Associate Professor Nazarov Kh. Yu., associate professors Abdukodirova M. N. and Boirov R. K., senior teachers S. A. Mamatov, A. A. Alimdzhanov, assistants A. Hamidov, R. Razzakov, Zh. Mirzakabulov, K. Shipilova and trainee teachers Nasibov B., Shorgasheva sh. and Z. Sharipzhonova. The Department graduates bachelors in 5450700-Engineering systems of water supply, 5630101-Ecology and environmental protection (in water management) and masters-5A450207-Integrated use and management of water resources, 5A630200-Environmental safety in water resources management. The Department has a high scientific potential, and 15 specialists from the faculty have improved their teaching and research skills in foreign countries. To date, the Department has trained 10 doctors and 22 candidates of science.
